An open cooler is a great way to keep your goods refrigerated but not stuck and in reach of your customer's hands. That's why you'll find them in most stores in Canada where food is sold. Almost all of these have open cases, but a few have doors on them. If you're looking for a deli, bakery, or seafood case, check out our display case section. Unlike our open air coolers, most of our display cases are full-service machines (although not all of them).
One consideration to make before your purchase is the placement of your merchandiser: you’ll not only want to measure out the space for your merchandiser, but you’ll also want to keep it away from direct sunlight (ideally), away from doors, and away from HVAC registers. These can keep your merchandiser from refrigerating at its optimum level.
There are two major designs for these grab n go cases: low profile, and high profile. A low profile merchandiser is great for a bakery or a deli: you can put in sandwiches and drinks (anything that is supposed to be an impulse purchase).
The second design is a high profile: These are much higher (about six feet depending on what model you buy). Very often you’ll find these next to other refrigeration equipment, like display refrigerators or display freezers, but they can also stand alone by themselves. These coolers are great in convenience stores, grocery stores (big and small), and in cafes: they let you put in packaged meals, drinks, and snacks. It’s great for all self-serve establishments.
If you’ve got any questions about which open air cooler you should buy, give us a call or send us an email. I’m sure we can help you out.
