Keep knives razor sharp using this diamond-coated steel
Mercer Culinary's 12 inch sharpening steel is designed for use with commercial kitchen knives. It features diamond coating, which will craft a new bevel on the knife's edge. It has a black polypropylene handle and is made in the USA. It also comes with a limited one-year manufacturer warranty.
A diamond sharpening steel has an abrasive edge, so it will remove more off your blade than a traditional sharpening steel, but it can restore more sharpness and make it more sharp than regular steel. Some people prefer the diamond steel, while others don't like how much of their knife it can take off. With a diamond steel, you will have to sharpen less frequently than you would with a traditional steel. After some time diamond steel can develop a grease barrier, so these should be cleaned regularly in hot soapy water.
