A Japanese-style ice pick for creating visually-appealing ice
The Barfly M37024 is a Japanese-style ice pick that features a heavy-duty, stainless steel construction and a wooden handle that gives it an old world appeal. It's 7 inches long, and its sharp steel edge can be used to score large ice cubes into more desirable shapes. The bottom pick can be easily jammed into ice blocks to aid with breaking them apart.
Japanese-style ice picks, otherwise known as an ice chipper, are common in Japan, and increasingly more popular in North America. The shape is reminiscent of a pick a mountaineer might use to scale a mountain, and in a way, it functions similarly. Unlike a standard ice pick, a Japanese-style ice pick has a head with a sharp edge for gouging large chunks of ice from a large cube of ice. An instance of where ice like this would be used is whiskey on the rocks.
