A julep strainer with old world feel for bartenders and drinkers

The Barfly M37028 is a julep strainer made of 18/8 stainless steel. Its handle is welded and has a hole at the end, so you can easily hang it somewhere for easy access. The overall length of the strainer is 6.5 inches, making it easy to fit into a mixing glass.

Julep strainers have been around for over a hundred years. They get their name from the mint julep, where they would sit at the bottom of the glass and prevent the drinker from getting a mouthful of muddled mint and ice. Nowadays, most bartenders will use them for the same jobs for which they'd use a Hawthorne strainer. The main difference in how they operate is that a Hawthorne strainer is meant to sit on top of a shaker tin, and a julep strainer is meant to sit in a mixing glass. A bartender's choice between them will come down to their straining preferences.
